What type of saunas are these?

We sell premium, commercial-grade traditional Finnish-style saunas, designed in Canada, along with infrared sauna units. Traditional saunas are "dry saunas" designed to be enjoyed at an air temperature of 160°F to 200°F. With our sauna heaters you can also add water to the rocks to create steam if you prefer more humidity. Our infrared saunas run much cooler (around 130°F to 140°F).

What are the order lead times?

Most saunas, cold plunges and accessories are held in stock, already built and ready to ship from our warehouse within 5–7 business days, typically delivered within 10–12 business days depending on transit time. If an item is not in stock, we require 4–6 weeks lead time to manufacture the unit.

Do you install the sauna, or are they a DIY kit?

Aside from custom builds, all saunas are designed as a "kit" that is prebuilt for easy assembly by the user. For an additional cost we offer installation for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI residents. If you need installation elsewhere, please reach out — we're happy to help and can recommend a third-party installer.

Do you wire and hook up electric sauna heaters?

No. All electrical work must be done by a certified electrician to the code standards in your region. We do not offer installation for electrical components.

Can I use water on the rocks of my sauna heater?

Yes — water can be gently ladled onto the rocks to create steam ("löyly"). Pour slowly and only when the sauna is at full temperature; the water should evaporate instantly. If water comes out the bottom of the heater, you're pouring too fast or too much. If you like a lot of steam, a sauna fountain (stones that sit among the rocks) can help.

Can I use aromatherapy or essential oils in my water?

Yes! You can add aromatherapy or essential oils to your water bucket for a scented steam. Classic scents are birch, pine and eucalyptus, but many oils work. Every oil is formulated differently, so make sure yours does not leave residue on the rocks.

What should I do if I need replacement parts?

Contact us and let us know what broke. We stock replacements for nearly all parts and can get them on their way to you quickly, so you can get back to enjoying the heat.

How much maintenance does the sauna require?

Very little. In most cases the only thing required is a wipe-down of the interior surfaces to remove dirt and perspiration. See our Maintenance section for details.

How long does it take to pre-heat the sauna?

Typically 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your heater strength, sauna size, outdoor temperature and desired temperature. It may take longer than 60 minutes to reach higher temperatures (above 200°F) or in very cold weather (below 20°F).

Are saunas watertight?

Without a roof installed, no. With a roof installed properly, yes. All barrel saunas without a roof are not watertight — the interlocking staves do not form a watertight seal.

How hot should my sauna be?

Traditional saunas run between 160°F and 200°F, measured at shoulder height on the upper bench. Heat stacks, so the floor is cooler than head height. If your head gets too hot, a wool/felt sauna hat helps keep it cool so you feel more of the heat on your body.
